The not (so) great Swiss theme park | Conny-Land Review

Conny-Land is a theme park located in Switzerland. The park opened in 1983 and has long been the country’s primary theme park, with its star attraction being Cobra. Conny-Land is home to two roller coasters, one being the aforementioned Cobra and the second being a very small kiddie coaster constructed by Gerstlauer, which can only be ridden by children. Besides these two coasters, the park is also home to a plethora of other flat rides and some tracked rides as well. Conny-Land is also well known for its sea lion show, which can be seen multiple times a day.

[Our experience]

Conny-Land was our second stop for the day as we already visited a small fun-fair earlier that day, so we arrived around noon. The first impression of the park was quite positive as we were very excited to visit it.

After buying our tickets, we directly went to Cobra, which is the park’s main attraction. Unfortunately, Cobra didn’t leave a great impression on me. The coaster was quite rough and left me with a bad headache.

Afterwards, we rested a bit and went on the park’s dinosaur dark ride. This ride was a pleasant surprise as the theming was quite impressive. I definitely recommend doing the ride when you are visiting the park.

The next ride that we did was their new-for-2023 drop tower. You could definitely see where the park wants to go in the future when it comes to theming and the integration of it into their rides. Crazy Professor, which is constructed by Ride Engineers Switzerland, is amazingly themed on the outside and on the inside. The ride itself was the first drop tower of that kind that I had ridden, so it was quite exciting. The whole experience was well executed, with a great storyline that was easy to understand. It was definitely the best ride of the park for me.

The last ride that we did was the very unique Mamut Tree ride. This is a one-of-its-kind zipline-style ride. Mamut Tree had the longest line while we were there because the ride has really bad capacity. I thought it was quite scary, actually, as the ride looked really sketchy. The ride itself was quite a surprise as it has a secret part in the big “Mamut tree” in the middle. I didn’t really like the ride, so this one was also a one-and-done.

[My thoughts]

Conny-Land left me with some mixed feelings. The park itself has some fun attractions and is definitely fun for the general public, but it could definitely use some stand-out attractions. I did expect a bit more of the park itself, and Cobra was a very big disappointment.

The look of the park was also all over the place, with some spots being quite good-looking and other places being kind of worn out.I would not really recommend visiting the park if you are not in the area, but if you are, you should go in for the (soon to be two) credits.
