Walibi Rhone Alpes has announced the name for their new for 2024 coaster. The coaster manufactured by Intamin will be called “Mahuka”. The French park is building a new themed area: Exotic Island, with the leading attraction being a Hot Racer manufactured by Intamin. They also released a large amount of concept arts showing the ride and its surroundings.

At around 1pm Walibi Rhône Alpes announced the name of their new coaster on their social media platforms. The park posted a video of a logo rising from the earth. This later revealed the name of the coaster: Mahuka, this is Hawaiian for ‘escape’. Mahuka will be the crown jewel of the new area ‘Exotic Island’.

Unique

The Hot Racer will be a single rail coaster built by Intamin in Europe and only the second in the world after ‘Big Dipper’ in Luna Park Australia. Unlike its predecessor it will be a fair bit longer and it will feature two launches, a top hat and multiple inversions.

The coasters will be added to celebrate the park's 45th Birthday. It may not be the biggest coaster or the fastest but it will surely be a coaster to look out for as it will be the first thrilling single rail coaster ever built in Europe.

Exotic Island

Mahuka will be located in the middle of their new for ‘22 area: Exotic Island. This area uses the “Exotic” theme that already could be found in Walibi Belgium as “Exotic World”. This area was already praised for its beautiful use of landscaping and great theming.

This area was built on the former site of their waterpark “Aqualibi”. Their waterpark closed down in 2019. In 2020 they announced that the waterpark would make way for their new area ‘Exotic Island'.

Exotic Island opened in 2022 with a new water play area and a new attraction in the form of a spinning tea cup / splash battle kind of ride. Walibi Rhône Alpes plans to expand this area gradually with additions such as “Mahuka” and other rides.

The story will be about a group of archaeologists that discover an abandoned temple. The area will be themed to this temple and a dig site around it. The area will also feature a new restaurant named: Tiki Fruits. The total amount of money invested will be around 10 million euros.
