Djurs Sommerland which is located near Nimtofte in Denmark, revealed their first concept arts for a new 60m tall drop tower named El Grito. The drop tower, which will be constructed by the Austrian manufacturer Funtime, will be located in the park's popular Mexican themed area.
Reaching new heights
The new drop tower will be the tallest attraction ever built at Djurs Sommerland. It will reach a height of 60 meters and plummet down with a top speed of a 100 km/h. The ride will offer breathtaking views of the park and its surroundings, standing twice as high as their next tallest ride, Piraten.
Although the drop tower will not be the highest drop tower in Denmark, it will be the fastest. The drop tower is going to be the second tallest drop tower in Denmark after Hjertekig, which is located in Tivoli Friheden and stands at a height of 65 meters but has a lower top speed at 80 km/h.
Mexican graveyard
The drop tower will be themed to the famous holiday: Día de Muertos. Visitors will be able to walk through a graveyard which is decorated for the famous holiday. The queue line will be very colorful and go through the cemetery.
“Ensuring that Djurs Sommerland is constantly undergoing development and remains an attractive day out for Danish and foreign families with children is a top priority for us. Our ambitions are always high and at the same time we listen to what our guests want. The new themed drop tower adds another important piece to the puzzle, and there is no doubt that the many visitors who have requested such a ride over the years will be thrilled.” says CEO Henrik B. Nielsen.
Visitors have been waiting for a more thrilling flat ride for a long time and this ride will finally arrive on April 27, 2024.
